هِنْد عُمَر وَسُوزَان مُحَمَّد تَقُودَانِ الْمِتْرُو فِي الْقَاهِرَةِ. هُمَا أَوَّلُ امْرَأَتَيْنِ تَقُودَانِ الْمِتْرُو فِي الْمَدِينَةِ. وَيَرْكَبُ الْمِتْرُو كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِلْيُونَا رَاكِبٍ تَقْرِيبًا. تَقَدَّمَ لِلْعَمَلِ ثَلَاثُونَ شَخْصًا، وَنَجَحَتِ امْرَأَتَانِ فِي الِاخْتِبَارِ. تَقُولُ هِنْدٌ: كَانَ الِاخْتِبَارُ صَعْبًا. وَوَالِدَايَ تَعَجَّبَا فِي الْبِدَايَةِ، ثُمَّ شَجَّعَانِي. تَعْمَلُ الْمَرْأَتَانِ سِتَّةَ أَيَّامٍ فِي الْأُسْبُوعِ، ثَمَانِيَ سَاعَاتٍ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ. وَهُمَا تَقُودَانِ قِطَارَاتِ الْخَطِّ الثَّالِثِ. تَقُولُ سُوزَانُ: فِي الْأَيَّامِ الْأُولَى، كَانَ بَعْضُ الرُّكَّابِ فِي الْمَحَطَّاتِ خَائِفِينَ. فَهَذَا شَيْءٌ جَدِيدٌ لَهُمْ. وَتَقُولُ هِنْدٌ: يَجِبُ أَنْ تَقُودَ نِسَاءٌ كَثِيرَاتٌ الْمِتْرُو.
Hind Omar and Suzan Mohamed drive the metro in Cairo. They are the first two women to drive the metro in the city. And about two million passengers ride the metro every day. Thirty people applied for the job, and two women passed the test. Hind says: the test was hard. And my parents were surprised at first, then they encouraged me. The two women work six days a week, eight hours every day. And they drive the trains of Line 3. Suzan says: in the first days, some passengers at the stations were afraid. Because this is something new for them. And Hind says: many women should drive the metro.
