مَنْقُوشَةٌ مِنْ آلَةٍ

فِي لُبْنَانَ مُهَنْدِسٌ اسْمُهُ عَبْدُ جَوْهَرٍ. دَرَسَ الْهَنْدَسَةَ الْمِيكَانِيكِيَّةَ فِي الْجَامِعَةِ الْأَمِيرِكِيَّةِ فِي بَيْرُوتَ. فِي الْجَامِعَةِ، كَانَتِ الِاسْتِرَاحَةُ بَيْنَ الدُّرُوسِ عَشْرَ دَقَائِقَ فَقَطْ. وَكَانَ الطَّعَامُ الْوَحِيدُ فِي هَذَا الْوَقْتِ مِنْ آلَاتِ الْبَيْعِ. وَكَانَتْ هَذِهِ الْآلَاتُ تَبِيعُ وَجَبَاتٍ سَرِيعَةً فَقَطْ. وَكَانَ رِيَاضِيًّا، وَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُحَافِظَ عَلَى وَزْنِهِ. لَكِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ هُنَاكَ طَعَامٌ آخَرُ. فَكَانَ يَأْكُلُ وَجَبَاتٍ سَرِيعَةً بِسُرْعَةٍ، ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ إِلَى الصَّفِّ. وَفِي سَنَةِ ٢٠١٧، جَاءَتْهُ فِكْرَةٌ جَدِيدَةٌ. فَقَرَّرَ أَنْ يَصْنَعَ آلَةَ بَيْعٍ تُقَدِّمُ طَعَامًا طَازَجًا، لَا وَجَبَاتٍ سَرِيعَةً فَقَطْ. وَاخْتَارَ الْمَنْقُوشَةَ، لِأَنَّ لَهَا أَنْوَاعًا كَثِيرَةً. وَالْمَنْقُوشَةُ فُطُورٌ مَشْهُورٌ فِي لُبْنَانَ. وَهِيَ خُبْزٌ عَلَيْهِ زَعْتَرٌ، أَوْ جُبْنَةٌ، أَوْ كِشْكٌ. وَفِي شَهْرِ حَزِيرَانَ سَنَةَ ٢٠١٩، عَرَضَ آلَتَهُ فِي مُؤْتَمَرٍ فِي بَيْرُوتَ. كَانَتِ الْآلَةُ تَخْبِزُ الْمَنْقُوشَةَ فِي دَقِيقَةٍ وَنِصْفٍ، أَوْ دَقِيقَتَيْنِ. فَتَعَجَّبَ النَّاسُ كَثِيرًا. وَقَالَ أَحَدُ الزُّوَّارِ: «لَا أُصَدِّقُ أَنَّ فِي هَذِهِ الْآلَةِ فُرْنًا كَامِلًا!» فَدَاخِلَ الْآلَةِ فُرْنٌ صَغِيرٌ، يَعْمَلُ وَحْدَهُ. وَكَانَ الْمُهَنْدِسُ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَضَعَ بَعْضَ الْآلَاتِ فِي لُبْنَانَ، لِيَعْرِفَ رَأْيَ النَّاسِ. وَمَعَ هَذِهِ الْآلَةِ، تَكْفِي اسْتِرَاحَةُ عَشْرِ دَقَائِقَ لِأَكْلِ مَنْقُوشَةٍ سَاخِنَةٍ.

In Lebanon there is an engineer called Abed Jawhar. He studied mechanical engineering at the American University of Beirut. At university, the break between classes was only ten minutes. And the only food at that time came from vending machines. These machines only sold fast food. He was sporty, and wanted to watch his weight. But there was no other food. So he would eat fast food quickly, then go back to class. In 2017, a new idea came to him. He decided to make a vending machine that gives fresh food, not only fast food. He chose manoushe because it comes in many kinds. Manoushe is a well-known breakfast in Lebanon. It is bread topped with za’atar, cheese or keshk. In June 2019, he showed his machine at a conference in Beirut. The machine baked the manoushe in a minute and a half, or two minutes. People were very surprised. One of the visitors said: “I can’t believe there is a whole oven in this machine!” Inside the machine there is a small oven that works by itself. The engineer
