هَذَا يَوْمٌ لِلطَّائِرَاتِ الْوَرَقِيَّةِ فِي جُدَّةَ. وَيَكُونُ هَذَا الْيَوْمُ عَلَى كُورْنِيشِ الْمَدِينَةِ فِي الشِّتَاءِ. فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ تَطِيرُ طَائِرَاتٌ وَرَقِيَّةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ. وَأَلْوَانُهَا زَاهِيَةٌ فَوْقَ الْبَحْرِ. الْكُورْنِيشُ طَرِيقٌ طَوِيلٌ عَلَى الْبَحْرِ. يَأْتِي إِلَيْهِ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ بِأَعْدَادٍ كَبِيرَةٍ. وَهُمْ يُطَيِّرُونَ الطَّائِرَاتِ الْوَرَقِيَّةَ. لِكُلِّ طَائِرَةٍ خَيْطٌ طَوِيلٌ. وَالرِّيحُ تَرْفَعُهَا عَالِيًا فِي السَّمَاءِ. أَشْكَالُ الطَّائِرَاتِ مُخْتَلِفَةٌ. بَعْضُهَا عَلَى شَكْلِ حَيَوَانَاتٍ. وَبَعْضُهَا عَلَيْهِ صُوَرُ أَشْخَاصٍ مَشْهُورِينَ. يُنَظِّمُ هَذَا الْيَوْمَ فَرِيقٌ مِنَ الشَّبَابِ السُّعُودِيِّينَ. وَأَعْضَاؤُهُ يَلْتَقُونَ عَلَى الْكُورْنِيشِ دَائِمًا. أَحَدُ الْأَعْضَاءِ يَحْلُمُ بِهَذَا الْيَوْمِ مُنْذُ سَنَوَاتٍ. يَدْعُو الْفَرِيقُ الْعَائِلَاتِ إِلَى الْكُورْنِيشِ. فَالطَّائِرَاتُ الْوَرَقِيَّةُ لِلصِّغَارِ وَالْكِبَارِ. كَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ يُحِبُّونَ هَذِهِ اللُّعْبَةَ. لَكِنْ بَعْضُهُمْ يَلْعَبُ وَحْدَهُ. وَفِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ يَلْعَبُونَ مَعًا. يَقْضِي الصِّغَارُ وَالْكِبَارُ وَقْتًا جَمِيلًا عَلَى الْكُورْنِيشِ. فِي آخِرِ الْيَوْمِ تَنْزِلُ الطَّائِرَاتُ الْوَرَقِيَّةُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ. وَتَرْجِعُ الْعَائِلَاتُ إِلَى الْبُيُوتِ مَعَ طَائِرَاتِهَا.
This is a kite day in Jeddah. This day takes place on the city’s corniche, in winter. On this day, many kites fly. Their colours are bright above the sea. The corniche is a long road by the sea. The people of the city come to it in large numbers. And they fly the kites. Each kite has a long string. And the wind lifts it high into the sky. The kites’ shapes are different. Some of them are shaped like animals. And some of them have pictures of famous people on them. A team of young Saudis organises this day. Its members meet on the corniche all the time. One of the members has dreamed of this day for years. The team invites families to the corniche. For kites are for young and old. Many people love this game. But some of them play alone. On this day they play together. Young and old have a lovely time on the corniche. At the end of the day, the kites come down from the sky. And the families go home with their kites.
