مَلَكُ مَسَلَّاتِي مُصَمِّمَةٌ سُعُودِيَّةٌ مِنْ مَدِينَةِ جِدَّةَ. أَسَّسَتْ فِي مَدِينَتِهَا «دَارَ مَلَكَ»، وَهِيَ مَكَانٌ يَعْمَلُ فِيهِ الْفَنَّانُونَ وَالْحِرَفِيُّونَ. فِي هَذِهِ الدَّارِ صَنَعَ الْفَرِيقُ مَجْمُوعَةً مِنَ الدُّمَى الْخَشَبِيَّةِ، اسْمُهَا «نَاسَنَا». وَمَعْنَى الِاسْمِ: «أَهْلُنَا». فِي سَنَةِ ٢٠٢١ كَانَ فِي الْمَجْمُوعَةِ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ دُمْيَةً. وَبَعْضُ الدُّمَى كَبِيرَةٌ، يَصِلُ طُولُهَا إِلَى أَكْثَرَ مِنْ نِصْفِ مِتْرٍ. وَلِلدُّمَى أَسْمَاءٌ تَقْلِيدِيَّةٌ، مِثْلُ سُعُودٍ، وَالْجَوْهَرَةِ، وَنُورَةَ. فَبَعْضُهَا رِجَالٌ، وَبَعْضُهَا نِسَاءٌ. وَالدُّمَى تَلْبَسُ مَلَابِسَ تَقْلِيدِيَّةً مِنْ مَنَاطِقَ مُخْتَلِفَةٍ فِي السُّعُودِيَّةِ. وَلِمَلَابِسِ كُلِّ مِنْطَقَةٍ أَلْوَانٌ وَأَشْكَالٌ خَاصَّةٌ. قَبْلَ صُنْعِ الدُّمَى، دَرَسَ الْفَرِيقُ الْمَلَابِسَ الْقَدِيمَةَ. فَسَافَرُوا إِلَى مَنَاطِقَ مُخْتَلِفَةٍ، وَزَارُوا مَتْحَفًا فِي جِدَّةَ. وَقَرَؤُوا كِتَابًا عَنِ الْمَلَابِسِ التَّقْلِيدِيَّةِ فِي السُّعُودِيَّةِ. ثُمَّ صَنَعُوا الدُّمَى مِنَ الْخَشَبِ. بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ لَوَّنَ فَنَّانُونَ سُعُودِيُّونَ الدُّمَى بِأَيْدِيهِمْ فِي «دَارِ مَلَكَ». وَكَانَ هَذَا الْعَمَلُ طَوِيلًا، فَجَرَّبُوا طُرُقًا مُخْتَلِفَةً وَمَوَادَّ كَثِيرَةً. وَاسْتَعْمَلُوا أَلْوَانًا كَثِيرَةً، وَوَرَقًا ذَهَبِيًّا، وَوَرَقًا فِضِّيًّا. تَقُولُ مَلَكُ إِنَّ «نَاسَنَا» تُظْهِرُ أَهْلَ السُّعُودِيَّةِ. فَهُمْ مُخْتَلِفُونَ فِي أَعْمَارِهِمْ، وَقِصَصِهِمْ، وَتَقَالِيدِهِمْ، وَعَادَاتِهِمْ. وَهَكَذَا تَحْكِي الدُّمَى الْخَشَبِيَّةُ قِصَصَ النَّاسِ فِي بَلَدِهَا.
Malak Masallati is a Saudi designer from the city of Jeddah. She founded “Dar Malak” in her city, a place where artists and craftspeople work. In this house, the team made a set of wooden dolls called “Nasana”. And the name means “our people”. In 2021 there were fifteen dolls in the set. Some of the dolls are big: they are up to more than half a metre tall. And the dolls have traditional names, like Saud, Al-Joharah and Nourah. So some of them are men, and some of them are women. And the dolls wear traditional clothes from different regions of Saudi Arabia. And the clothes of each region have their own colours and shapes. Before making the dolls, the team studied the old clothes. So they travelled to different regions, and visited a museum in Jeddah. And they read a book about traditional clothes in Saudi Arabia. Then they made the dolls from wood. After that, Saudi artists painted the dolls by hand at “Dar Malak”. This work took a long time, so they tried different methods and many
