كَانَ فِي مَدِينَةِ الْكُوَيْتِ مَعْرِضٌ لِأَعْمَالٍ فَنِّيَّةٍ مِنْ أَشْيَاءَ قَدِيمَةٍ. وَصَنَعَ الْأَعْمَالَ مُعَلِّمُونَ وَمُعَلِّمَاتٌ وَطُلَّابٌ مِنْ مَدَارِسِ الْكُوَيْتِ. وَالْأَشْيَاءُ الْقَدِيمَةُ فِيهِ أَشْيَاءُ مِنَ الْبُيُوتِ، يَرْمِيهَا النَّاسُ عَادَةً. وَكَانَتْ فِيهِ أَعْمَالٌ كَثِيرَةٌ وَجَمِيلَةٌ. الْعَمَلُ الْأَوَّلُ نَمُوذَجٌ صَغِيرٌ لِقَارِبٍ كُوَيْتِيٍّ قَدِيمٍ، اسْمُهُ «بُومٌ سَفَّارٌ». وَالْبُومُ قَارِبٌ كَبِيرٌ، كَانَ الْكُوَيْتِيُّونَ يُسَافِرُونَ بِهِ فِي الْمَاضِي. صَنَعَتْهُ مُعَلِّمَةٌ لِلْفَنِّ، لَكِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنَ الْخَشَبِ. إِنَّهُ مِنْ عُلَبِ الْمَشْرُوبَاتِ، وَوَرَقِ عُلَبِ الْأَحْذِيَةِ، وَالْكَرْتُونِ، وَلَفَائِفِ وَرَقِ الْأَلُومِنْيُومِ. وَالْعَمَلُ الثَّانِي سَجَّادَةٌ مَنْسُوجَةٌ بِالْيَدِ. صَنَعَتْهَا فَنَّانَةٌ مِنْ شَرَائِطِ قُمَاشٍ، قَطَعَتْهَا مِنْ فَسَاتِينَ قَدِيمَةٍ. وَنَسَجَتْهَا عَلَى نَوْلٍ صَنَعَتْهُ مِنْ أُنْبُوبٍ قَدِيمٍ مِنْ مَوْقِعِ بِنَاءٍ. وَهَكَذَا صَارَ أُنْبُوبُ الْبِنَاءِ أَدَاةً لِلنَّسْجِ. وَالْعَمَلُ الثَّالِثُ جَاءَ مِنْ مَدْرَسَةٍ ابْتِدَائِيَّةٍ لِلْبَنَاتِ. صَنَعَتْ مُعَلِّمَةُ الْفَنِّ مَعَ طَالِبَاتِهَا عَالَمًا تَحْتَ الْبَحْرِ. فِيهِ مَرْجَانٌ مِنْ لَفَائِفِ الْمَنَادِيلِ الْوَرَقِيَّةِ، وَسَرَطَانَاتٌ مِنْ عُلَبِ الْكَرْتُونِ. وَرَسَمَتِ الطَّالِبَاتُ الْبَحْرَ بِأَقْلَامِ الشَّمْعِ الْمُلَوَّنَةِ. وَهَكَذَا صَارَ الْكَرْتُونُ وَالْوَرَقُ بَحْرًا مُلَوَّنًا بِأَيْدِي طَالِبَاتٍ صَغِيرَاتٍ. إِذَنْ، فِي كُلِّ عَمَلٍ، صَارَ شَيْءٌ قَدِيمٌ شَيْئًا جَدِيدًا. فَالْعُلَبُ صَارَتْ قَارِبًا صَغِيرًا، وَالْفَسَاتِينُ صَارَتْ سَجَّادَةً، وَاللَّفَائِفُ صَارَتْ مَرْجَانًا.
There was an exhibition in Kuwait City of artworks made from old things. The works were made by teachers and students from schools in Kuwait. And the old things in it are things from homes that people usually throw away. And there were many beautiful works in it. The first work is a small model of an old Kuwaiti boat called “Boom Saffar”. And the boom is a big boat that Kuwaitis used to travel on in the past. An art teacher made it, but it is not made of wood. It is made of drinks cans, paper from shoe boxes, cardboard, and rolls of foil. And the second work is a hand-woven rug. An artist made it from strips of cloth, which she cut from old dresses. And she wove it on a loom that she made from an old pipe from a building site. And so the building pipe became a tool for weaving. And the third work came from a girls’ primary school. The art teacher made a world under the sea with her pupils. In it there is coral from tissue rolls, and crabs from cardboard boxes. And the pupils drew th
