In Tripoli, the capital of Libya, the Libyan Song Festival was held. It is the fifth festival, and it came back after about eighteen years. The festival is about Libyan lyrics and tunes, and about Libyan voices. Eighty-two people wanted to take part in the festival. Then a committee worked for ten days, and it chose twenty of them for the competition. New singers sang at the festival, and famous singers sang too. The artist Sami Mahmoud says: we have come back with new voices. And we have new ideas for the lyrics and the tunes. And the winners got cash prizes. And they are the biggest prizes in the festival’s history. The first prize is sixty thousand Libyan dinars, about six thousand dollars. And the festival ended on Saturday, with new Libyan voices.
