هَذِهِ سُفُنٌ صَغِيرَةٌ مِنَ الْخَشَبِ. يَصْنَعُهَا حِرَفِيٌّ فِي الْجَزَائِرِ. هُوَ يَعْمَلُ بِالْخَشَبِ. هُوَ يُحِبُّ النَّمَاذِجَ الصَّغِيرَةَ لِلْأَشْيَاءِ الْكَبِيرَةِ. وَهُوَ مُعَلِّمٌ أَيْضًا. وَيَصْنَعُ السُّفُنَ فِي وَقْتِ الْفَرَاغِ. فِي ذَاكِرَتِهِ سَفِينَةٌ صَغِيرَةٌ مِنْ طُفُولَتِهِ. هُوَ يَتَذَكَّرُهَا مِنْ زِيَارَةٍ مَعَ عَائِلَتِهِ. السَّفِينَةُ مِثْلُ سَفِينَةٍ حَقِيقِيَّةٍ. وَهُوَ لَا يَنْسَاهَا أَبَدًا. أَوَّلُ عَمَلٍ لَهُ سَيَّارَةٌ خَشَبِيَّةٌ صَغِيرَةٌ. وَالْآنَ هُوَ يَصْنَعُ السُّفُنَ. هُوَ يَبْحَثُ عَنْ قِيَاسَاتِ السُّفُنِ الْحَقِيقِيَّةِ. ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُهَا صَغِيرَةً. وَيَخْتَارُ الْخَشَبَ الْمُنَاسِبَ. السَّفِينَةُ الْوَاحِدَةُ تَأْخُذُ وَقْتًا طَوِيلًا. وَأَحْيَانًا تَأْخُذُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سَنَةٍ. السَّفِينَةُ فِي رَأْيِهِ لَيْسَتْ خَشَبًا فَقَطْ. هِيَ عَمَلٌ فَنِّيٌّ جَمِيلٌ. هُوَ يَعْرِضُهَا فِي مَعَارِضِ الْحِرَفِ. وَيَرَاهَا النَّاسُ هُنَاكَ. وَيَشْتَرِيهَا بَعْضُ الْمَتَاحِفِ. وَهِيَ تُزَيِّنُ الْمَوَانِئَ وَالْبُيُوتَ. عِنْدَهُ الْيَوْمَ سِتُّ سُفُنٍ فِي مَجْمُوعَتِهِ الْخَاصَّةِ. وَكُلُّهَا عَنْ تَارِيخِ الْجَزَائِرِ. هُوَ يُرِيدُ حِفْظَ تَارِيخِ بَلَدِهِ. فَالسُّفُنُ جُزْءٌ مِنْ هَذَا التَّارِيخِ.
These are small ships made of wood. A craftsman in Algeria makes them. He works with wood. He likes small models of big things. And he is also a teacher. And he makes the ships in his free time. In his memory there is a small ship from his childhood. He remembers it from a visit with his family. The ship is like a real ship. And he never forgets it. His first work was a small wooden car. And now he makes ships. He looks for the measurements of real ships. Then he makes them small. And he chooses the right wood. One ship takes a long time. And sometimes it takes more than a year. In his view, a ship is not just wood. It is a beautiful work of art. He shows them at craft exhibitions. And people see them there. And some museums buy them. And they decorate ports and homes. Today he has six ships in his own collection. And all of them are about the history of Algeria. He wants to preserve his country’s history. For ships are part of this history.
