هَذِهِ مَدِينَةُ مُرَّاكُشَ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ. وَخَلْفَهَا جِبَالُ الْأَطْلَسِ. فِي الْمَدِينَةِ الْقَدِيمَةِ أَسْوَاقٌ كَثِيرَةٌ. وَمُرَّاكُشُ مَشْهُورَةٌ بِالْحِرَفِ الْيَدَوِيَّةِ. وَالْأَبْنَاءُ يَتَعَلَّمُونَ الْحِرَفَ مِنَ الْآبَاءِ. لِكُلِّ حِرْفَةٍ سُوقٌ خَاصٌّ بِهَا. فِي سُوقِ الصَّبَّاغِينَ صُوفٌ مُلَوَّنٌ. الصَّبَّاغُونَ يَضَعُونَ الصُّوفَ فِي قُدُورٍ كَبِيرَةٍ. وَفِي الْقُدُورِ مَاءٌ حَارٌّ بِأَلْوَانٍ كَثِيرَةٍ. ثُمَّ يُعَلِّقُ الصَّبَّاغُونَ الصُّوفَ مِنَ السَّقْفِ. وَهُنَاكَ يَجِفُّ الصُّوفُ. وَالنَّسَّاجُونَ يَعْمَلُونَ عَلَى أَنْوَالٍ مِنَ الْخَشَبِ. يَصْنَعُونَ أَشْكَالًا جَمِيلَةً بِخُيُوطٍ مُلَوَّنَةٍ. وَالْخُيُوطُ مِنَ الْحَرِيرِ وَالْقُطْنِ. يَعْمَلُ نَسَّاجٌ قُرْبَ مَدْرَسَةِ ابْنِ يُوسُفَ الْقَدِيمَةِ. هُوَ يَنْسِجُ أَوْشِحَةً مِنَ الصُّوفِ وَالْقُطْنِ. وَعَلَى الْأَوْشِحَةِ أَشْكَالٌ جَمِيلَةٌ. يَبْدَأُ الْعَمَلَ فِي الصَّبَاحِ الْبَاكِرِ. وَيَبْقَى عَلَى نَوْلِهِ حَتَّى الْمَسَاءِ. يَبِيعُ النَّسَّاجُ أَوْشِحَتَهُ لِلسُّيَّاحِ فِي وَرْشَتِهِ. هُوَ لَا يَبِيعُهَا لِلتُّجَّارِ. وَهُوَ يَتَحَدَّثُ مَعَ السُّيَّاحِ عَنْ عَمَلِهِ. وَأَهْلُ مُرَّاكُشَ يَشْتَرُونَ مِنْهُ أَيْضًا. وَالسُّيَّاحُ يَشْتَرُونَ مِنَ الْحِرَفِيِّينَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ. وَالْيَوْمَ يَبِيعُ بَعْضُ الْحِرَفِيِّينَ عَلَى الْإِنْتَرْنِتِ أَيْضًا.
This is the city of Marrakech in Morocco. Behind it are the Atlas Mountains. In the old city there are many markets. And Marrakech is famous for handicrafts. Children learn the crafts from their fathers. Each craft has its own market. In the dyers’ market there is coloured wool. The dyers put the wool into big pots. In the pots there is hot water in many colours. Then the dyers hang the wool from the roof. And there the wool dries. The weavers work on wooden looms. They make beautiful patterns with coloured threads. The threads are silk and cotton. A weaver works near the old Ben Youssef school. He weaves scarves of wool and cotton. There are beautiful patterns on the scarves. He starts work early in the morning. And he stays at his loom until the evening. The weaver sells his scarves to tourists in his workshop. He does not sell them to traders. He talks with the tourists about his work. The people of Marrakech buy from him too. Tourists buy from the craftsmen every day. And toda
