مُجَاهِدٌ الْمُفَرْجِيُّ شَابٌّ عُمَانِيٌّ يَصْنَعُ الْفَخَّارَ فِي وِلَايَةِ بَهْلَاءَ. وَبَهْلَاءُ مَدِينَةٌ تَارِيخِيَّةٌ، مَشْهُورَةٌ بِالْفَخَّارِ. وَصِنَاعَةُ الْفَخَّارِ مِهْنَةٌ قَدِيمَةٌ فِي عُمَانَ. تَعَلَّمَ مُجَاهِدٌ هَذِهِ الْمِهْنَةَ مِنْ عَائِلَتِهِ، وَهُوَ يُحَافِظُ عَلَيْهَا. وَهُوَ يَصْنَعُ أَشْيَاءَ تَقْلِيدِيَّةً بِطُرُقٍ قَدِيمَةٍ وَحَدِيثَةٍ. كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ مُجَاهِدٌ قِطْعَةً مِنَ الْفَخَّارِ؟ أَوَّلًا، يَأْخُذُ الطِّينَ مِنْ أَمَاكِنَ جَيِّدَةٍ، مِثْلِ بَهْلَاءَ وَجَبَلِ شَمْسٍ. ثُمَّ يَخْلِطُ الطِّينَ بِالْمَاءِ. بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَعْجِنُهُ بِيَدَيْهِ أَوْ بِقَدَمَيْهِ، لِكَيْ يُخْرِجَ مِنْهُ الْحِجَارَةَ الصَّغِيرَةَ وَالْأَوْسَاخَ. ثُمَّ يُشَكِّلُهُ بِيَدَيْهِ، وَأَحْيَانًا يَسْتَعْمِلُ أَدَوَاتٍ حَدِيثَةً. وَبَعْدَ التَّشْكِيلِ، يَتْرُكُ الْقِطَعَ حَتَّى تَجِفَّ. وَفِي النِّهَايَةِ يَحْرِقُهَا فِي الْفُرْنِ، فَتَصِيرُ قَوِيَّةً، وَتَبْقَى زَمَنًا طَوِيلًا. وَكُلُّ هَذَا الْعَمَلِ يَأْخُذُ أُسْبُوعَيْنِ تَقْرِيبًا، مِنَ الطِّينِ إِلَى الْقِطْعَةِ الْجَاهِزَةِ. يَصْنَعُ مُجَاهِدٌ أَوَانِيَ وَأَبَارِيقَ لِلْمَاءِ، وَمَبَاخِرَ، وَدِلَالًا، وَمَطَاحِنَ لِلْقَهْوَةِ. وَمِنْ أَوَانِي الْمَاءِ «الْجَحْلَةُ»، وَهِيَ إِنَاءٌ عُمَانِيٌّ تَقْلِيدِيٌّ. وَيَصْنَعُ أَيْضًا أَشْكَالًا صَغِيرَةً لِمَبَانٍ عُمَانِيَّةٍ قَدِيمَةٍ. وَبَعْضُ هَذِهِ الْأَشْيَاءِ يَسْتَعْمِلُهَا النَّاسُ فِي بُيُوتِهِمْ. يَقُولُ مُجَاهِدٌ: «الْمِهَنُ التَّقْلِيدِيَّةُ تُعَلِّمُنَا الصَّبْرَ وَالدِّقَّةَ وَالْفَخْرَ بِهُوِيَّتِنَا». وَهُوَ يَتَمَنَّى أَنْ يَفْتَحَ يَوْمًا مَشْغَلًا خَاصًّا بِهِ، فِيهِ كُلُّ الْأَدَوَاتِ الَّتِي يَحْتَاجُهَا.
Mujahid Al Mufarji is a young Omani man who makes pottery in the wilayat of Bahla. And Bahla is a historic town, famous for pottery. And pottery-making is an old craft in Oman. Mujahid learned this craft from his family, and he keeps it alive. And he makes traditional things in old and new ways. How does Mujahid make a piece of pottery? First, he takes clay from good places, like Bahla and Jebel Shams. Then he mixes the clay with water. After that he kneads it with his hands or his feet, to take the small stones and dirt out of it. Then he shapes it with his hands, and sometimes he uses modern tools. And after shaping, he leaves the pieces until they dry. And in the end he fires them in the kiln, so they become strong and last a long time. And all this work takes about two weeks, from the clay to the finished piece.
