فِي دُبَيّ، رَأَى نَاسٌ سُلَحْفَاةً كَبِيرَةً عَلَى جَانِبِ طَرِيقٍ مُزْدَحِمٍ. وَزْنُهَا وَاحِدٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ كِيلُوغْرَامًا! اتَّصَلَ النَّاسُ بِحَدِيقَةِ «ذَا غْرِين بْلَانِت». فَجَاءَ الْعُمَّالُ، وَأَخَذُوا السُّلَحْفَاةَ إِلَى بَيْتٍ جَدِيدٍ. بَيْتُهَا الْجَدِيدُ غَابَةٌ صَغِيرَةٌ دَاخِلَ مَبْنًى فِي دُبَيّ. الْأَطِبَّاءُ يَفْحَصُونَهَا، وَهِيَ بِخَيْرٍ. هَذِهِ السَّلَاحِفُ مِنْ إِفْرِيقْيَا، جَنُوبَ الصَّحْرَاءِ الْكُبْرَى. وَهِيَ تَأْكُلُ النَّبَاتَاتِ. وَهِيَ تَعِيشُ سَبْعِينَ سَنَةً أَحْيَانًا. وَبَعْضُ النَّاسِ يَشْتَرُونَهَا، ثُمَّ يَتْرُكُونَهَا. وَفِي الْخَارِجِ، الْجَوُّ فِي الصَّيْفِ حَارٌّ جِدًّا لَهَا. لَكِنَّ هَذِهِ السُّلَحْفَاةَ وَجَدَتْ بَيْتًا جَدِيدًا.
In Dubai, people saw a big tortoise by the side of a busy road. It weighs thirty-one kilograms! The people called “The Green Planet” park. So the staff came, and they took the tortoise to a new home. Its new home is a small forest inside a building in Dubai. The doctors are checking it, and it is well. These tortoises are from Africa, south of the Sahara. And they eat plants. And they sometimes live for seventy years. And some people buy them, then they leave them. And outside, the summer weather is too hot for them. But this tortoise has found a new home.
