Sudan’s texts reach from family coffee to the ancient city of Meroe. Sudanese Jabana Coffee is a first text about the coffee families prepare at home in the afternoon or evening; Baskets from Palm Leaves visits women weaving palm leaves in a village north of Khartoum; and Meroe’s iron reads the slag heaps of an ancient royal city on the Nile. Others go to the coral of Sanganeb, gum arabic in North Kordofan and the Great Hafir.
